She claimed she turned down a role in the Broadway musical 'Flower Drum Song' to be with Marvin, but dancer/director Gene Kelly testified he never offered her a part.
She got her role in 'Diagnosis Murder' while dating series star Dick Van Dyke.

In court, Marvin dismissed his past declarations of true love as 'idle male promises.'
Because Marvin did not want to become a father, she had two abortions that left her unable to have children.
She claimed she was fired as a singer because of Marvin's drunken appearances at the nightclub where she worked.
She and attorney Marvin Mitchelson, who had taken the case on a contingency basis, walked away with nothing.
