He and Mary were first cousins.

He murdered Mary's secretary, David Rizzio.

He was tall for men of that time period (about 6'3).
He was handsome and educated.
His family was exiled from Scotland for several years.
He and his valet were murdered at Kirk o'Field in 1567.
His own wife was believed to have been involved in his murder.
