Why he might be annoying:

His playing career lasted only three seasons.
Despite being associated with the Tiger-Cats for three decades, he accepted a position with the rival Argonauts.
He developed a reputation for being extremely tight-fisted with the team's finances.
He was extremely gruff towards his players upon the first meeting.

Why he might not be annoying:

He guided the Tiger-Cats to three Grey Cups during the 1960's.
He was the Tiger-Cats' all time leader in winning percentage at the time of his departure.
Despite his gruff nature, he was considered kind and caring by his former players.
He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (1998).
