    (October 17, 1907-May 22, 1984)
Born in New York City, New York
Portrayed movie mogul Jack Woltz in 'The Godfather' (1972)
Also appeared in the films 'The Mob' (1951), 'I Want to Live!' (1958), 'America, America' (1963), 'Cat Ballou' (1965), 'Faces' (1968), 'Love Story' (1970), 'W.C. Fields and Me' (1976), 'The Car' (1977), 'Hooper' (1978) and 'Tribute' (1980)
Died at 77 following open-heart surgery
He was a Russian who was typecast as Greeks and Italians.
    He had flagrantly bushy eyebrows.
During rehearsals for his famous horse head scene in 'The Godfather,' a fake head was used. For the actual shoot, a freshly severed horse's head from a New Jersey slaughterhouse was used. (The blood, however, was still fake.)
He served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII.
He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for 'Love Story.'
He good-naturedly spoofed his 'Godfather' role for SCTV, portraying Leonard Bernstein, who refuses to give the lead in his new opera to John Candy.
