    Despite his feat, he remained in hockey obscurity in the years following his accomplishment.
    His sudden death goal was overshadowed by that of Bill Barilko's a year later.
    He was one of the first American born NHL players.
    He was the first player in the history of the Stanley Cup Finals to score a sudden death overtime goal in the seventh and deciding game (1950).
    He was ok with the fact he never received the attention or accolades regarding his feat.
    He was considered an offensive scorer during his early days within the NHL.
