    He wrote several of his songs under the pseudonym Naomi Neville.
    His song 'Sweet Touch of Love' was used in a commercial for Axe body spray.
    One reviewer noted, 'His stage outfit blended plaid, paisley and polka dots like nobody's business.'
    He was a staple of the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
    'The River in Reverse' was the first major studio album recorded in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
    The city of New Orleans honored him with a life-size statue in a park off Bourbon Street.
    He received the National Medal of the Arts (2013).
