Wrote ‘The Aeneid,’ ‘The Eclogues’ and ‘The Georgics’

Why he might be annoying:

He was effeminate (his nickname was ‘the Maiden’).
He had a speech impediment.
He kept a pet housefly.
When the fly died, he gave it a funeral that cost the equivalent of $100,000.
During the Middle Ages, people thought he was a sorcerer.
He put subtle digs at his boss, the Emperor Octavian, in ‘The Aeneid.’
He died before finishing the book.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is considered the greatest Roman poet.
He came up with the concept ‘time flies’ (maybe when his pet fly died?).
The Founding Fathers took the phrase ‘E pluribus unum’ from his writings (but it was from a salad recipe!).
His property was confiscated by Roman soldiers.
He may have been murdered when Octavian figured out he was being mocked in ‘The Aeneid.’
Dante made him the main character in ‘The Divine Comedy.’
He is also used as a character in a video game.
