Why A&E might be annoying:

When 'Breakfast with the Arts' was canned in July 2007 it was the last fine arts-related show broadcast.
Abandoning both its catchphrase and its fine arts shows in favor of reality TV, its moniker changed - going from 'Arts & Entertainment' to 'The Art of Entertainment.'
Several of its crime programs have been hosted by the same dude, prompting some to call it the 'Bill Kurtis Network.'
Once a friend of U.K. originated shows, it has ceased all British oriented programming.
'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' is a shameless rip-off of 'The Osbournes.'
'Intervention' shows people addicted to booze and drugs blindsided by family members and shamed into going to rehab, most of whom relapse (reality TV indeed).

Why A&E might not be annoying:

Its 'Biography' series was an unexpected and huge hit, spawning the breakaway network The Biography Channel.
Other networks jumped on the 'Biography' styled bandwagon, such as VH-1's 'Behind the Music' and E!'s 'True Hollywood Story.'
Showing that viewers DO have reality TV limitations, 'Growing Up Gotti' lasted just one season (and was parodied by The Smoking Gun - 'Blowing Up Gotti').
When 'The Sopranos' premiered on A&E in January 2007, 3.86 million viewers tuned in, making it the most watched rerun of a cable show in history.
When Duane 'Dog' Chapman was caught using the word 'nigger' to describe his son's girlfriend, his highly rated show 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' was immediately pulled by network managers.
'American Justice' with Bill Kurtis has been going strong since 1992, making it the longest running documentary crime show in cable history.
Its original docudrama, 'Flight 93,' was its most watched program ever (January 30, 2006), viewed by 5.9 million people and nominated for six Emmys, winning one.
