Why he might be annoying:

He was married and divorced three times.
He fathered a daughter out of wedlock with actress Kate Vernon.
He spent as much as $2,000 a day on cocaine and heroin.
He ended up living in a box on L.A.’s skid row and lost half his teeth.
He dropped out of over thirty rehab programs.
He claimed to have had so much sex that his penis exploded. (‘It was like a hot dog splitting.’)
It imparts a whole new spin to the Three Dog Night hit ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come.’

Why he might not be annoying:

After his parents divorced, he and his twin sister Nancy were placed in an orphanage for two years.
He was responsible for introducing Three Dog Night to songs by Harry Nilsson (‘One’), Laura Nyro (‘Eli’s Coming’), and Paul Williams (‘An Old Fashioned Love Song’).
His explanation for why rehab at Cri-Help finally worked: ‘They treated me as an addict as opposed to a celebrity.’
He worked with MusiCares and the Musicians Assistance Program.
He warned Scott Weiland, ‘You look terrible…. I think you’re going to die.’
His voice held up surprisingly well.
