    His last name is pronounced as ‘bee-NYOHN-nay’, not ‘big-none’.
    He was one of the Dirty War generals in charge of Argentina from 1976 to 1983, which was a period of an extreme clampdown on dissent involving the disappearances of thousands of dissidents.
    He tried to limit Argentina’s return to democracy by trying to limit the investigations of human rights violations during the Dirty War, which was rejected by civilian political parties.

    He lifted up a few restrictions on free speech.
    He appointed moderates as economic ministers to replace conservative ones.
    He didn’t endorse any one candidate during the 1983 Argentine presidential election.
    He was under house arrest when his trial started.
