The Pearl Harbor attack killed thousands of Americans and helped Ben Affleck's career.
He was so confident that the attack had ruined American naval power, that he refused to send a second strike wave when the pilots' commander (who had led the attack) recommended it.
He fought against the Americans.
During the Battle of Midway, he lost 4 carriers and several other warships.

He supported the integration of air and sea power.
His organization of the Pearl Harbor attack was superb from a military standpoint.
