Owner and head chef of The Fat Duck - Michelin three-star restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, England
Famed as a 'culinary alchemist' (taking a scientific approach to cooking - aka a molecular chef)
Signature dishes include Sound of the Sea, Smoked bacon-and-egg ice cream, Snail porridge, Beef Royal, Triple-cooked chips & Ice cream filled pork pie
Host of the British TV series 'Kitchen Chemistry with Heston Blumenthal,' 'Heston Blumenthal: In Search of Perfection' and 'Heston Blumenthal: Further Adventures In Search of Perfection'

Why he might be annoying:

    He is a 'gadget freak.'
His restaurant has £200-a-head average (and booked for months in advance).
The restaurant only seats 40, yet employs 45 chefs and 25 house staff.
On one of his TV shows, he injected his head chef with a high amount of chili oil to test when the effect goes from pleasant to dangerous.
He is a proponent of neuro-linguistic programming.
His restaurant was closed down for two weeks in 2009 when 40 patrons were sickened (vomiting and diarrhea), which quickly swelled to 400.
Though food poisoning was ruled out, the health department did not discover the reason before allowing the establishment to reopen in March of 2009.

Why he might not be annoying:

He fell off a roof at age 10 and fractured his spine, requiring insertion of metal plates to stabilize his back.
He worked hard rehabbing his back and became a black belt in karate.
By age 14 he knew he wanted to be a chef and is completely self-taught.
He has collaborated with British scientists on recipes and at times uses a vacuum jar to enhance flavor.
He was one of the first chefs to incorporate a blow torch into the kitchen, a practice now emulated by other famed chefs.
One satisfied patron told him 'I'm so thrilled to meet the real-life Willy Wonka,' who turned out to be the widow of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' author Roald Dahl.
The Fat Duck has been voted 'Best Restaurant in the U.K. by the Good Food Guide in 2007, and 'Best Restaurant in the World' by fellow chefs in 2005.
For his culinary excellence he was given an Officer title of the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006.
