U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (August 22, 1974- )
    Born in Yuma, Colorado
Republican representing Colorado in the United States Senate (first elected 2014)
Represented Colorado's 4th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives (January 3, 2011-January 3, 2015)

Why he might be annoying:

He was staunchly conservative during his time in the House of Representatives, but moderated some after being elected to the Senate.
He opposed legalized marijuana until Colorado voters approved Amendment 64 (2012), then favored states rights regarding the legalization of marijuana.
He opposed giving Merrick Garland a hearing for Supreme Court Justice due to election proximity in 2016, only to support fulfilling a Constitutional duty by advocating for Amy Coney Barrett to receive a hearing less than 6 weeks before Election Day in 2020.
He featured his cancer surviving mom in a campaign ad which stated he authored legislation which would prevent folks being denied health care due to a pre-existing condition (this was already in the Affordable Care Act, which he opposed).
He championed himself as a candidate who was pro-environment, but his voting record didn't quite reflect that claim.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned his law degree from University of Colorado.
For the 116th congressional cycle, he was ranked as the 3rd most bipartisan member of the United States Senate.
While much of Colorado's political influence comes from the greatly populated I-25 corridor (including greater Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and Pueblo areas), he rose to prominence from Colorado's rural eastern plains.
He tried to show his lighter side in campaign ads during his tough Senatorial re-election campaign (2020).
He describes himself as a 'common sense' conservative. (At least he had 'common sense' enough to become more moderate as statewide Colorado politics shifted slightly to the left).
