    She led a protest against Starbucks for its partnering with the Anti-Defamation League, which she accused of 'attacking black and brown people.'
    She was on a REVOLT Summit Panel that descended into a shouting match between Candace Owens and T.I.
    She was criticized for praising Louis Farrakhan and for being hesitant to denounce his history of anti-Semitic remarks.
    The backlash over her Farrakhan support, also directed at her working with Linda Sarsour, got to be so intense that she resigned from the Women's March leadership position, citing it as a distraction.

    Her parents were founding members of the NAN organization, and she started volunteering at 11.
    Her son's father, Jason Ryans, was murdered in 2001, marking a catalyst in her activism.
    She was on the transition committee of the New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
    The inaugural Women's March in D.C. was a huge success, and attracted nearly 500,000 attendees.
    She was made visibly uncomfortable during her appearance on The View, in which Meghan McCain badgered her over her support of Farrakhan.
