Why they might be annoying:

The logo on their jersey, 'CH,' and their nickname, the 'Habs,' have conflicting stories to them. The 'CH' is said to represent the 'Club de Hockey Canadien,' which was the hockey team the present-day Montreal Canadiens have been based off of. However, it is also believed that the 'H' in the logo stands for the French word/phrase 'habitant,' which was used as a label for farmers in Quebec.
Most of their fans are French Canadians.
They officially go by their French name, 'Canadiens.'
They traded Patrick Roy to the Colorado Avalanche, who would go on to win two Stanley Cups as their starting goalie.
Their website is populated by many 'Coming Soon' pages.
When they were own by the Molson brewery, they charged fans 8$ for a small beer.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are one of the NHL's core six teams.
They, along with the Montreal Maroons, were professional hockey teams located in Montreal during the early 1900's. During the Great Depression, the city of Montreal could not afford two hockey teams, so the Maroons were sold and the Canadiens were kept.
They won at least one Stanley Cup in each decade since forming.
They won consecutive Stanley Cup's on six different occasions, including 5 straight years (1956-60) and four straight years (1976-79).
When Patrick Roy was a rookie and everyday starter, they won the Stanley Cup.
They are the second most successful sports team out of the four major sports, behind the NY Yankees.
They had entertaining rivalries with the now defunct Montreal Maroons, the relocated Quebec Nordiques (now the Colorado Avalanche) and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Henri Richard and Jean Beliveau both spent 20 seasons with the franchise.
The Vezina trophy was name in honor of their goalie George Vézina.
