The Resume

    (1901-1971)
    Based in Washington, D.C.
    One World Series championship (1924)
First franchise established in 1901, before relocating to Minneapolis in 1960
Second franchise established in 1961, before relocating to the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex in 1971

Why Washington Senators might be annoying:

Both franchises opted to use the Nationals moniker, before changing to Senators.
They were notorious for being mediocre or putrid.
Their teams often finished in last place.
Their futility was often used as a punchline in national newspapers.
The original franchise initially refused an offer to relocate to Minneapolis, before hastily accepting the offer in the wake of a Continental League franchise establishing itself in the city.
They struggled with attendance issues during the late 1960's.
The second franchise's relocation to Texas left the District without a baseball team for 33 years.
Similar to the NHL's Winnipeg Jets, they are recognized as two separate franchises and do not share a history, despite using the same name.

Why Washington Senators might not be annoying:

They were one of the American League's charter franchises.
They were one of the first teams to build a stadium that was primarily built from a concrete and steel structure.
They won their first World Series pennant in an upset over the New York Giants (1924).
They signed Harmon Killebrew as a 17-year old.
The second franchise was established in the months following the original franchise's relocation, giving D.C. area baseball fans continuity.
The second franchise was able to continue to use the Senators name as the Twins didn't trademark it.
They were managed by Ted Williams, who guided the team to its first winning season in decades (1969).
