The Resume

    (August 27, 1951- )
    Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Birth name is David Gus Bell
Third baseman for the Cleveland Indians (1972–78), Texas Rangers (1979–85, 1989), Cincinnati Reds (1985–88) and the Houston Astros (1988)
Member of the coaching staff for the Cleveland Indians (1994–95, 2003–05)

    Silver Slugger Award winner (1984)
    Gold Glove winner (1979–84)

Why he might be annoying:

He spent his prime years on poor Indians and Rangers teams.
He was traded from the Reds to the Astros for nothing, as his production began to dwindle.
He guided the Tigers to a then-franchise record of 109 losses in his rookie managerial season (1996).
He was fired at mid-season in two of his three managerial positions.
As a manager, his teams were notorious for lacking consistency.

Why he might not be annoying:

He, along with his father, Gus and sons David and Mike are one of the few families to have multiple generations play in Major League Baseball.
He was born in Pittsburgh, when his father was a member of the Pirates.
He won six consecutive Gold Gloves as a member of the Rangers.
He often played far off the baseline, which allowed him to position himself perfectly to take away hits from batters.
He was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, which played a role in his decision to walk away from his managerial career.
