Hockey Player
    (June 12, 1949- )
    Born in Granby, Quebec, Canada
Birth name was Joseph Gérard Marquis Tardif
Left winger for the Montreal Canadiens (1969–73) and Quebec Nordiques (1979–83)
    1971, 1973 Stanley Cup teams
National Hockey League 2nd overall draft (1969)
World Hockey Association First All-Star Team (1976–78) and Second All-Star team (1975)
Original World Hockey Association Hall of Fame inductee (2010)
    #8 retired by the Nordiques
Before the 1973–74 season, he signed a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Sharks, which was a shocker to the Habs.
En route to a 1976 playoff berth – which he ultimately missed – he was cross-checked by an opposing winger. And still being clobbered unconscious.
At first, he wasn’t too happy about playing second fiddle to the Stastny brothers and even less so future sniper Michel Goulet.
He played in only one NHL All-Star Game, in 1982.
Compare his reactions to scoring a goal to Mike Foligno's. Day and night.
The season following his head injury, upon which he became captain, he led the Nordiques to their only WHA championship.
While his jersey was retired with him, he retired his skates himself.
He went on to own a Toyota and Kia dealership.
His son would become a nationally-ranked tennis player.
