Why he might be annoying:

He went by the nickname Rusty, despite having white hair.
He appeared on Morton's Frozen Food commercials.
Although he was close friends with Wapner, he would always call him judge.
Bailiff is hard to spell.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a sheriff's deputy and bailiff prior to becoming a TV bailiff.
He was the bailiff at two famous trials (Charles Manson and Patty Hearst).
He and Judge Wapner not only worked together on 'The People's Court,' but were good friends off the set.
He is the role model for TV bailiffs.
He is a father figure.
Although they used actors on 'Divorce Court,' they used real attorneys and he would get his lawyer friends gigs on the show.
Executive producer, Stu Billett, wanted to hire a sexy woman as bailiff, but he got the job because Wapner insisted.
He played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Browns.
He was married over 50 years.
Ironically, his middle name was Justus.
He fibbed about his age so he could join the navy during WW II.
