    (December 3, 1949- )
    Born in Cairo, Georgia
Birth name was John Michael Thomas
Singer with the Elvin Bishop Band (1974-78) and Jefferson Starship/Starship (1979-1991)
Recorded the solo albums 'As Long As You Love Me' (1976), 'Alive Alone' (1981) and 'Over the Edge' (2004)
Appeared in the film 'Dream a Little Dream' (1989)
He admitted that before joining Jefferson Starship, 'They weren't one of my favorite bands to listen to' and 'I never bought any of their records.'
He was lead singer for Starship during its critically reviled 'We Built This City' era.
While several of the original band members reformed Jefferson Starship, he assembled a new touring band dubbed Mickey Thomas' Starship.
He said there was no rivalry when Grace Slick rejoined the band: 'We hit it off right away, both personally and musically.'
He was lead singer for Starship during its most commercially successful era, when it scored three #1 hits.
He was sidelined from touring after Starship drummer Donny Baldwin assaulted him so severely that he needed reconstructive facial surgery (September 24, 1989).
