Why he might be annoying:

    He was given the name Nubs because someone cut off his ears to make him more alert and aggressive.
    He was an Alpha dog among his desert pack, which meant he had to fight with several other dogs to obtain his rank.
    He was sent to San Diego ahead of Dennis to be retrained to be 'just a dog.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    When Dennis found him, he had a bite wound in his neck and a broken tooth.
    After dressing the wounds the two bonded.
    Someone drove a screwdriver into him (December 2007).
    Dennis put antibiotic on the wound and slept with him that night to keep him warm but feared he would be dead the next morning (Nubs had another idea).
    Later, Dennis' unit moved 65 miles away and somehow he found his human buddy the next day after a night of running in freezing temperatures.
    Marine brass found out about the dog and gave Dennis two options - get him off base or kill him.
    Dennis found a Jordanian veterinarian to take care of him and fill out necessary paperwork.
    Friends and family of Dennis raised $3,500 to get him from Amman, Jordan, to San Diego, where the two were happily reunited a month later.
    He is now a 'naturalized U.S. citizen.'
