The Resume

    (March 12, 1949-March 3, 2023)
Born in New York City, New York
Birth name was Susan Russell Lane
Portrayed Elizabeth Grainger on ‘The Virginian’ (1966-70)
Acted in ‘Schoolgirls in Chains (1973),’ ‘The Trial of Billy Jack (1974)’ and ‘Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977)’

Why she might be annoying:

She first appeared on television as a baby in a soap commercial.
Her family basically forced her into show business.
She shares a name with the former host of 'Attack of the Show.’
She made her movie debut in the Bill Castle Psycho-Biddy drama ‘I Saw What You Did’ opposite the genre's reigning queen Joan Crawford (as a prankster who accidentally prank calls a man who just murdered his wife).
For her mid-1970's roles, she was billed as 'Russell Lane.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She and her mother made most of their own clothes.
As a teenager, she also hand-crafted earrings for herself from broken jewelry.
She loved horseback riding and owned two quarter horses.
Her riding skill was invaluable during riding scenes on The Virginian and she only consented to the use of stunt doubles when producers absolutely insisted.
She had great chemistry with Virginian castmate Doug McClure as Trampas.
She was very open about only acting for the money, and retired after getting married in 1977 (they co-founded the Havens Winery in Napa, California).
