TV Series
    (September 29, 1969-May 23, 2008)
    Aired on NBC (1969–73, 1983–89)
    Aired in syndication (1973–74, 1985–86, 2007-08)
Hosted by Jack Kelly (1969-71), Joe Garagiola (1971-74), Jim Perry (1983-89) and Rossi Morreale (2007-08)
Co-hosted by Barbara Lyon (1969–71), Kit Dougherty (1971–74), Madelyn Sanders (1969–74), Sally Julian (1983), Lee Menning (1983–84) and Summer Bartholomew (1984–89)
2007-08 version was called 'Temptation: The New Sale of the Century'
Premise: Contestants answered questions for cash, and were then allowed to buy discount items with their money
It was basically 'The Price is Right' with trivia.
Some of the prizes offered kind of sucked (ex. a robot that served drinks).
Like 'Price,' it featured blatant product placement.
Also like 'Price,' it featured silly mimed skits when the 'Instant Bargains' were shown.
The 2007 revival only lasted a season.
The trivia questions were really easy.
It allowed contestants to buy expensive products for ridiculously low prices.
Actor Mark DeCarlo was a contestant on this show before hitting it big, then went on to host the game show 'Studs' in the 90's, which Perry appeared on (although not as a contestant).
It ranked #41 on TV Guide's '50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time.'
It gave away pretty huge prize jackpots for the time, sometimes over $100,000.
It was adapted into an Australian version, which was a huge hit that lasted nearly 30 years.
It was in a big ratings battle with 'Press Your Luck' in the mid-80's, which 'Sale' ended up winning.
