The Resume

    (December 3, 1932-June 2, 2016)
    Born in Breda, Netherlands
    Birth name was Cornelia Brokken
Represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest (1956-58)
Won with ‘Net als toen’ (‘Like It Used To Be’) in 1957

Why she might be annoying:

Her father joined the Dutch Nazi Party – even though her mother was part Jewish.
She went from first to worst, finishing tied for last at the 1958 Eurovision Contest. (Making her, as of 2016, the only person to have finished both first and last in Eurovision.)
She was married three times, divorced twice.
While serving as a presenter on German television, she complained that Cologne was ‘full of humorless people.’
She retired from show biz (1976), only to return to the stage 14 years later.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the most popular home-grown singing star in the Netherlands during the 1950s and 60s.
She recorded songs in German and French as well as her native Dutch.
She was a presenter at Eurovision when the Netherlands hosted the contest (1976).
During her retirement from performing, she became an attorney specializing in family law and was later appointed as a judge.
