    He decided to forego his remaining college eligibility to pursue an NHL career.
    He went 3-15-0 during his rookie season (2000-01).
    He frequently left his crease to play the puck.
    His birthplace was incorrectly listed as Winthrop, Massachusetts in some media guides during his rookie season.
    He signed an NHL record 15-year, $67.5 million contract to remain with the Islanders (2006).
    He was the first goaltender to be drafted as the first overall pick.
    He was a member of the 2006 U.S. Men's hockey team at the Torino Olympics.
    He is the fourth American born player to be drafted first overall.
    The Islanders thought so highly of him, they traded away franchise goaltender Roberto Luongo.
    He is left handed.
