TV Series
    (October 22, 2002-February 16, 2015)
    Born in United Kingdom
UK TV series featuring Michael Kitchen as a British detective fighting crime on the English coast during WWII
Also starred Honerysuckle Weeks and Anthony Howell as his driver and #2 respectively
Called by the Wall Street Journal, 'A triumph start to finish'
Its official 'website' is just an online ad to try and get you to buy the DVDs.
It was originally cancelled after five seasons but was brought back for three before being finally cancelled for good.
The Honeysuckle Weeks character of a female army driver serving as Kitchen's chauffer who helped out on cases was very gimmicky.
There were occasional anachronistic mistakes such showing the American flag with fifty stars and Foyle's rank of Chief Superintendent was not created until well after WWII.
Episodes took a lengthy five week average to film.
Episodes shown on American PBS were heavily edited for time.
High production costs led to its eventual cancellation.
Michael Kitchen's portrayal of Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle was incredible and is undoubtedly of the greatest performances in British television history.
The violence was kept to a surprising minimum.
The show didn't rely on the war to supply storylines and the majority of cases did not involve the war effort.
The over all writing was fantastic.
It was worth watching just for the costumes and vehicles.
The DVD and Blu-Ray releases are fantastic!
Despite the occasional anachronism, a great deal of effort was expended to get historical details and events right.
