Why he might be annoying
He graduated from Harvard Law School but never practiced as an attorney.
He noted about his directing career of B-grade westerns, comedies and musicals, 'I will never be another William Wyler.'
He said of Bedtime for Bonzo, 'Until Ronald Reagan became governor of California, it was just another picture. Now it's all anybody talks about, including Johnny.'
When Carson would speak to him on the Tonight Show, the conversation would often pass so quickly there was no time to give De Cordova a microphone or catch him on camera.
While promoting his autobiography, he twice had to bump himself from the Tonight Show when time ran short.
Why he might not be annoying
He had to move a lot growing up because his parents were con artists who would run up bills then skip town.
He was known for getting films done on time and on budget.
When lights were installed at Wrigley Field, Carson placed a light on the edge of the Tonight Show set so De Cordova could finally be seen clearly.
Robert Stack said of De Cordova at age 81, 'Here's a guy who looks great, who never stopped smoking and usually has a martini in his hand. You've got to believe in a God with a really wild sense of humor.'
He said, 'Carson makes me happy to go to work and my wife makes me happy to go home.'
