The Resume

    (July 22, 1997- )
    Born in Hoover, Alabama
Birth name is Carlethia Nichole Russell
    Spa worker and nursing student
Staged her own abduction in a 911 call on the Birmingham interstate (July 13, 2023)
Returned home to her parents two days after disappearing
Admitted to the kidnapping being a hoax through her attorney (July 24, 2023)
Charged with: false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting an incident (July 28, 2023)

Why she might be annoying:

She ripped off Sherri Papini’s act but wasn’t as committed to it.
She stole several items from her job before staging her disappearance.
She claimed in her 911 call to have found an infant in a diaper alongside Interstate 459 (no other driver phoned police to report any child running unattended near the highway at that time).
Her vehicle at the time of the call would later be shown in traffic camera footage (not only was no toddler visible but her car could be seen with its hazard lights on and moving at a speed that would have been nigh impossible for any child to match).
She dramatically pretended to be forcibly taken during a phone call to a family friend.
Crime Stoppers raised more than $60,000 in reward money to find her and the search effort was led by a woman whose daughter had actually been abducted and killed.
She was seen on neighborhood cameras leisurely walking towards her family home and picking up speed as she got closer to the house.
She was found to have performed Google searches ‘Do you have to pay for an Amber alert’ and ‘How to take money from a register without being caught’ in the days before her disappearance.
Her stunt diverted valuable resources from actual missing persons cases, including other black women (whose stories notoriously get far less attention than those of their white counterparts).

Why she might not be annoying:

    She likes the movie ‘Taken.’
Her parents may have spoiled her.
She allegedly thought up the plan after her boyfriend cheated on her with a stripper.
She was fired after the hoax was uncovered.
She opted to admit that she had lied rather than continue to claim it really happened in the face of all evidence (unlike some people).
She spawned endless Cheez-It memes (she took a box of them with her and then claimed her abductor fed them to her).
Many saw the news coverage and social media presence her case attracted to be a sign of progress for missing persons cases in the black community now being taken more seriously by law enforcement.
