She dropped out of college to get married.
Two of her three marriages ended in divorce.
She and her first husband went to live on a commune, then broke up.
She said about the film adaptation of ‘Looking for Mr. Goodbar,’ ‘I feel like the mother who delivered her 13-year-old daughter to the door of Roman Polanski and didn't know what was going to happen.’

Why she might not be annoying:

She was recovering from a car crash when she began writing ‘Looking for Mr. Goodbar.’
‘The Guardian’ described the sex scenes in ‘Mr. Goodbar’ as ‘neither pornographic nor hobbled by fanciful metaphor.’
During the mid-80s, she developed viral meningitis, which caused short-term memory loss and kept her from writing for years.
Andrew Sarris said, ‘She was very perceptive, very witty and very sharp, and she wrote the way she was.’
