Why he might be annoying:

He was the first president to die while his mother was still alive (1849).
He refused to run for re-election.
He was President during the Mexican War (1846).

Why he might not be annoying:

He did not receive any of the first seven nominations at the Democratic Convention, in the eighth vote he was suggested as a compromise candidate, and in the ninth vote he was selected unanimously.
He was the first speaker of the house to become President.
He hated being president and felt he would be happier as a sovereign rather than a servant of the people.
He wrote: 'I am so heartily rejoiced that my term is so near its close' (February 19, 1849).
Iowa became the 29th state during his administration (1846) and Oregon became a territory (1848).
He was the first president to be photographed.
