    Appeared on Broadway in 'Lend an Ear' (1948), 'Follies' (1971) and 'Good News' (1974)
    Directed episodes of 'Gunsmoke,' 'The Rifleman,' 'I Dream of Genie' 'Mod Squad' and 'Star Trek' and the films 'Kissin' Cousins' (1964), 'Your Cheatin' Heart' (1964) and 'Harum Scarum' (1965)
    He was a member of Sonja Henie's Hollywood Ice Revue (1937-40).
    He was married and divorced three times.
    He lived together with Maureen Reagan for three years.
    When Hollywood musicals began drying up, he tried to switch to dramatic roles with little success.
    He said about being a dancer and actor, 'Both careers were incomplete. I feel unfulfilled in either one. I didn't become the star I wanted to be.'
    He toured with Irving Berlin's 'This Is the Army' revue entertaining troops in Europe during WWII.
    He was an athletic dancer; for example, in 'So This Is Paris' he leaped into the air as a bicycle zipped under his legs.
    He suffered a broken pelvis when a horse fell on him (1957).
    He was nominated for a Tony for 'Follies.'
    He was a professor of theater arts at San Francisco State University.
