Why he might be annoying:

Hootie???
He tended to give rambling speeches during trophy presentations.
He had a strong southern accent.
He tried to eliminate the long standing lifetime exception that past Masters champions get (it has been since reinstated).
He removed the PGA Tour victory qualification, which ruined lots of players dreams of playing at Augusta.
He lengthened most holes at Augusta so that golfers with less distance can't play with the long hitters.
He came under fire for not allowing women to join his club.
He was a pioneer of bringing ATMs to the mainstream.

Why he might not be annoying:

He attended his first Masters in 1935.
He was successful in getting education integrated in South Carolina in the 60s.
He stood by his policies and id not want to be forced to change.
He usually gave valid reasons and examples to why clubs that are private should remain that way.
He allowed women to play on the Augusta course.
He realized that men need time away from women and worked hard to keep it that way.
