Voice Actor

The Resume

    (July 23, 1912-July 28, 2004)
Born in New York City, New York
Founding member of American Federation of Radio Artists (1937, later American Federation of Television and Radio Artists)
Radio programs include ‘The Adventures of Superman,’ ‘Tom Corbett, Space Cadet,’ ‘The Cisco Kid,’ and ‘The Milton Berle Show’
Voices for Famous Studios (Paramount Pictures) include Bluto, Buzzy the Crow, and the unnamed fox that often antagonized Baby Huey
Narrator for ‘The New Adventures of Superman,’ ‘Take the Money and Run,’ ‘G.I. Joe: a Real American Hero,’ and assorted pseudo-commercials on Saturday Night Live
Advertisements included Little Caesars and promotions for NBC Sports

Why he might be annoying:

He stood an astonishing five foot three.
In person, his early looks would have been comparable to Edward G. Robinson (less so his voice).
In ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,’ — he dubbed the voice of the judge presiding over the trial that led to Tuco would be hung.
Oh, he did appear onscreen a few times — notably as a mobster on ‘Edge of Night’ in the late 60s.

Why he might not be annoying:

As the son of a silent film actor, he came by his talent honestly.
‘I’m an advertising man, and I treat my voice as a business. People who treat it as an art don’t make any money.’
Where most of his fellows fell by the wayside, he remained a fixture well past the Golden Age of Television by being able to change with the times.
He married only once (widowed in 1986, with a stepson).
