Head coach for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (2002-05), Spokane Chiefs (2005-08), Rockford Ice Hogs (2008-11), Carolina Hurricanes (2014-18) and the Calgary Flames (2018-November 28, 2019)
Assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings (2011-14)
Why he might be annoying
He employed intimidation tactics to motivate his players.
His Carolina teams finished no higher then 6th place in their division.
He was described by his former players as being the worst coach they have played under.
He allegedly punched and kicked his players on the bench in Carolina.
He was forced to resign as the Flames head coach after it was revealed he used racial epithets towards one of his players during his tenure in Rockford a decade earlier. (November 29, 2019).
Why he might not be annoying
He suffered a serious knee injury after he was involved in a collision on his bicycle, which hampered his playing career.
He played in one professional game as an emergency replacement for the Central Hockey League's San Antonio Dragons (1996).
He guided the Spokane Chiefs to their first Memorial Cup championship in 17 years (2008).
He guided the Flames to their first 100+ point season in 30 years in his only full season at the helm (2018-19).
He accepted the Flames head coaching job as it was close to both his off-season home and his family's hometown.
