He was traded to the Flames a few months after being drafted by the Avalanche in the ill-fated Theoren Fleury trade.
He was the first of the four 1998 first round draft picks to be traded by the Avalanche for players who were set to be unrestricted free agents at season's end.
He frequently tends to cough up the puck.
He enjoys golf and fishing.
Why he might not be annoying
He survived a head-on collision near Saskatoon which killed two people in the oncoming vehicle (Summer 1999).
He made a miraculous recovery after breaking both his legs in the accident, returning to the ice and playing 57 games in his rookie year (1999).
He has established himself as both a blue line leader and gritty defenseman with the Flames.
He grew up in Brazil and Indonesia as a child before his family decided to return to Canada.
He was a standout defenseman with the WHL's Kamloops Blazers.
He has been a member of Team Canada on numerous occasions.
