Also acted in 'Will Penny (1968),' 'The Hunting Party (1971),' 'One on One (1977),' 'Apocalypse Now (1979),' 'North Dallas Forty (1979),' 'The Formula (1980),' 'The Lords of Discipline (1983),' 'Tank (1984),' 'The War of the Roses (1989),' 'Ed Wood (1994),' 'Canadian Bacon (1995),' 'Nick of Time (1995),' 'The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)' and 'Dick (1999)'
Died of natural causes in San Luis Obispo, California at age 90

Why he might be annoying:

Gervase Duan? (no wonder he went by his initials)
He was a lawyer working in Venezuela, then became an independent oil producer before turning to acting.
He ran for mayor of Oklahoma City in 1965 and lost.
As a career character actor he typically played figures of authority, including two stints as U.S. Presidents (Andrew Jackson and Lyndon B. Johnson).
He directed two movies in 1972, the barely remembered 'Outside In' and 'The Only Way Home.'
As a self-made millionaire he stated, 'Being rich changes surprisingly little. You'll still have to have an absorbing interest in life, something to do to make you feel alive. (spoken like a self-absorbed snob)

Why he might not be annoying:

Both his parents were school teachers.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in China.
He was the director of John F. Kennedy's 1960 presidential campaign in Oklahoma.
He befriended Jack Webb, who used him three times in his 'Dragnet' TV series (1967-70).
Though he started late as an actor (his first gig was at age 46), he became an in-demand character actor who starred in over 70 TV and film roles.
He was married to the same woman for 56 years until her 2000 death.
