Why she might be annoying:

    She claimed that her first film appearance was an undetermined Rin Tin Tin movie.
    Virtually all of her post-Frankenstein credits went uncredited.
    She was reportedly promised a dozen hard-boiled eggs for agreeing to do one additional take for the drowning scene by James Whale (the reward was ultimately two dozen).
    The shot of her actually being thrown into the water was cut from subsequent 1930s prints to avoid appease censors.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was adopted by an overbearing stage mother.
    Her famous ‘Frankenstein’ scene has been parodied on numerous occasions, including in Mel Brooks’ ‘Young Frankenstein’ and for a popular Twix commercial.
    The unedited cut of her ‘Frankenstein’ scene was reinserted for video reissue in the 1980s.
    She said of Boris Karloff: ‘[He] was a very sweet, wonderful man, and I just loved him...We seemed to have a rapport together and it was like magic.’
    She began a friendship with fellow ‘Frankenstein’ castmate Mae Clarke after the actress initiated a televised effort to locate her during a 1983 television interview.
