There is very little known about his life.
His nickname was 'Doctor Subtilis' or 'The Subtle Doctor.'

Like most Christian philosophers, he held that God was the answer to just about every question out there.
He was a professor at Oxford.
He wrote on nearly every topic in philosophy as well as theology.
He was one of the chief figures in Christian Europe who worked to keep philosophy alive during the middle ages.
