Why he might be annoying:

    He had a huge honker.
    He was thrice married - twice divorced.
    He went with then girlfriend Jane Fonda to Cambodia and Vietnam in 1972, visiting the Vietcong and watching his girl get pinned with the moniker 'Hanoi Jane.'
    He ran for Mayor of Los Angeles in 1997 and lost, and ran for L.A. City Council in 2001 and lost.
    He had his son Liam with third wife Barbara Williams when he was 60 years old.
    He caused controversy when his son married a black woman in 2007, stating it was 'another step in a long-term goal of mine: the peaceful, nonviolent disappearance of the white race.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He lived in Newark between 1964-68 and worked with poor inner-city residents, getting caught in the race riots of July 1967.
    On November 21, 1972, after over three years and several appeals, he and other Chicago Seven trial members were cleared of all charges.
    He was a long time environmentalist and advocated the benefits of solar energy long before it became a fashionable cause.
    During the 1970s, he worked and had a close relationship with California Governor Jerry Brown.
    He sponsored the Hayden Act, seeking to extend the period of time from 72 hours to 4-6 business days, any stray companion animal impounded in the L.A. area before being euthanized (law passed July 1st, 1999).
    He gave an impassioned speech at the 1999 Seattle WTO (World Trade Organization) protest.
    In the 2000s, he taught as an adjunct/assistant professor courses at Pitzer, Scripps and Occidental Colleges.
