Why they might be annoying:

It was a side project of the rhythm section from Talking Heads.
Except for Frantz and Weymouth, the band line-up was constantly changing.
’Genius of Love’ was their only pop hit.
None of their later albums matched the success of their debut.

Why they might not be annoying:

They blended elements of new wave, dance music and hip-hop.
’Genius of Love’ was a major crossover hit, reaching #2 on Billboard’s R&B chart and #1 on the dance chart.
’Genius of Love’ was sampled by everyone from Grandmaster Flash (‘It’s Nasty’) to Mariah Carey (‘Fantasy’).
Frantz said about ‘Genius of Love,’ ‘At the time there was nothing that sounded like it, and frankly, except for the people that have sampled it, there still isn’t’
