    (1962- )
    Born in Champaign, Illinois
Professor of Law at Yale University (2001- )
Wrote ‘Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother’ (2011), a memoir about her experience as a self-described ‘Chinese mother’
She criticized American parenting as too lax.
She forbade her daughters to have play dates, attend sleepovers or act in school plays.
She also called them garbage and tore up a card one of them had made for her.
She says parents are to blame if their children aren’t getting straight A’s
She wrote an earlier controversial book that blamed ethnic violence on Western-style democracy and free markets.
Her aunt was killed in an outbreak of violence against Chinese nationals in the Philippines.
    Her father developed nonlinear electronics.
Much of her infamous book is actually tongue in cheek.
When her younger daughter rebelled, she reconsidered her draconian parenting style.
Her older daughter defended her, claiming ‘If I died tomorrow, I would die feeling I’ve lived my whole life at 110 percent. And for that, Tiger Mom, thank you.’
