    Born in Jacksonville, Florida
    Birth name is Philip Blondheim
Member of New York's The Journeymen with John Phillips and Dick Weissman (1961-64)
Recorded as a solo artist 'San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)'
He is a one hit wonder.
Phillips invited him to be a member of the Mamas and Papas, but he wanted a solo career and turned him down.

The youth of Czechoslovakia used the song as their freedom anthem against Soviet rule during the 1968 Prague Spring uprising.
Led Zeppelin has covered the song and it can be heard in their 1976 concert film 'The Song Remains the Same.'
He helped write the 1988 Beach Boys hit 'Kokomo.'
He teamed with Denny Doherty and Michelle Phillips to sing at a 2001 tribute concert honoring his late friend John.
He dedicated his live American performances of 'San Francisco' to Vietnam vets and in 2002 sang at the 20th anniversary of the unveiling of the of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
