    Conservatives doubted her ability to remain neutral as moderator of the Biden/ Palin VP debate (2008).
    The reason? She was writing a book which was titled after and featured a chapter on Barack Obama.
    She said: 'I don't know why I'm not married.'
    She accused the major networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) of being 'bored by Washington.'
    She left The Washington Post after they told her she wasn't ready to cover Capital Hill.
    She graduated Simmons College with a communications degree.
    When she worked at The Boston Herald, a co-worker left her a note reading: 'Nigger go home.'
    She was one of the first African-American women to moderate a well-regarded political program on television.
    She dismissed conservatives who questioned her objectivity, and stated that she hadn't began writing the chapter on Obama at the time of the VP debate.
    She received numerous awards for 'broadcasting excellence.'
