Why he might be annoying:

    His first job was as a plumber's assistant.
    He intended his job at Warner Brothers to be temporary while waiting for news about a possible opening at Disney.
    He owned a stuffed jackalope.
    When he left Warner Brothers for Hanna-Barbera, he did not say goodbye to any of his co-workers.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He credited Charlie Chaplin with shaping his comedic sensibility: 'He showed me how close humor is to tragedy.'
    Chuck Jones said he did his best work from Maltese's stories.
    Three Jones-Maltese collaborations were chosen for the National Film Registry as 'culturally, historically and aesthetically significant films': 'What's Opera, Doc,' 'Duck Amuck' and 'One Froggy Evening.'
    In a poll of animation professionals, 'What's Opera, Doc?' and 'Duck Amuck' were named the two greatest cartoons of all time (1994).
    His explanation for the success of Warner Brothers' cartoons: 'We wrote cartoons for grown-ups. That's the secret.'
