    He was relegated to backup duties with the Red Sox three years after his Gold Glove winning season.
    He was incredibly injury prone throughout his career.
    He was remembered for being knocked unconscious by a Nolan Ryan fastball, which led him suffering from a concussion and temporary hearing loss as a result (1974).
    A year later, he got beaned again sustaining both hearing and equilibrium problems as a result.
    He retired after playing five games during the 1977 season.
