Why he might be annoying:

His hitting skills were incredibly weak.
He was relegated to backup duties with the Red Sox three years after his Gold Glove winning season.
He was incredibly injury prone throughout his career.
He was remembered for being knocked unconscious by a Nolan Ryan fastball, which led him suffering from a concussion and temporary hearing loss as a result (1974).
A year later, he got beaned again sustaining both hearing and equilibrium problems as a result.
He retired after playing five games during the 1977 season.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a standout athlete during his high school years.
He earned a Gold Glove during his second season as the Red Sox starting second baseman.
His strong fielding skills compensated for his poor hitting ones.
He was one of the first players to adopt the ear flap on his batting helmet.
He worked in the construction industry following his retirement from baseball.
