The Resume

    (October 22, 1948- )
    Born in Yakima, Washington
Popular romance novelist, cookbook and children's book writer
16-time #1 New York Times bestselling author
Best known for her popular series of 'Cedar Cove' books, as well as the 'Rose Harbor' books that sprang from the book series
Also known for 'The Angel,' 'Midnight Sons,' 'Heart of Texas,' and 'Dakota' book series
'Cedar Cove' series was later adapted into a popular Hallmark Channel original series, airing from 2013 to 2015

Why she might be annoying:

She makes a killing churning out schmaltzy, quixotic pulp fiction that suburbanites gobble up eagerly.
Outside of Hallmark Channel, few outlets if any have expressed much interest in adapting her books to film.
For some reason, she held off on writing another 'Mrs. Miracle' vehicle for Doris Roberts (presumably Roberts' then-poor health factored into her decision not to write another book).
Instead, she penned a prequel 'Mr. Miracle,' which was also made into a lower-quality movie with an actor who could pass as a Martin Short impersonator.
She's such a prolific knitter that she's joked about the excess yarn making her a card-carrying member of SABLE (Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy).
Although not exclusively drawn to Christmas-themed plotlines, its what she's mainly known for (resulting in a quasi-seasonal following that forms only when she publishes her next 'Christmas book').
When asked what she does to relax when she's not writing, she answered: 'This shouldn’t surprise you: knitting and cooking.'
She claimed to have once been so deep into writing her new novel, that she literally 'hit a wall' working on the last chapter (she was swimming underwater at the time and forgot the pool's wall was directly in front of her while she was thinking of a new plot twist).

Why she might not be annoying:

    She struggles with dyslexia.
She made a living as a writer despite having only a high school education.
Her material is clean and heartwarming family fare.
She was awarded the Romance Writers of America RITA and a lifetime achievement award by the Romance Writers of America.
She was the inaugural winner of the fan-voted Quill Award for romance (2005).
Her 'Cedar Cove' books provided the groundwork for Hallmark to produce its first original, scripted series.
She is active in fundraising for battered women's shelters and literacy campaigns.
She was awarded the Romantic Times Magazine Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award.
She won a Romance Writers of America RITA Award, for 'The Christmas Basket.'
She threw out the ceremonial first pitch in a Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field (2007).
As an aspiring writer, she attended a romance writer's conference. The hosting editor who was critiquing her manuscript tore it apart and recommended that she throw it away.
Undaunted, she scraped together $10 to mail the same novel to the publisher's rival firm. They bought the book.
