Religious Figure
    (November 23, 1929- )
    Born in Houston, Texas
    Christian Zionist author
Wrote 'The Late Great Planet Earth' (1970) and 'The 1980s: Countdown to Armageddon' (1980)
Hosted the Trinity Broadcast Network programs 'International Intelligence Briefing' and 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
He has been predicting the imminent arrival of Armageddon for four decades.
He initially predicted the End Times would occur within a 'generation' of the founding of Israel (1948) and said that a generation in the Bible is 40 years.
When 1988 passed without the end of the world, he decided that 'a Biblical generation is somewhere between 40 and 100 years' and also suggested that the clock might have started ticking with Israel's capture of West Jerusalem in 1967 instead.
He wrote, 'Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him -- a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib. The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist.'
His mustache seems to have been trapped in a 70s time warp.
He served in the Korean War.
'The Late Great Planet Earth' was the biggest non-fiction title of the 70s, with 35 million copies sold.
The film version of 'The Late Great Planet Earth' (1979) was narrated by the late great Orson Welles.
