Cultist
    (February 18, 1919-October 1, 1994)
    Born in Oakland, California
Founder of the Children of God, a.k.a. The Family International (1968)
He was also known to his followers as ‘Father David,’ ‘King David,’ and ‘David Moses.’
He became reclusive, communicating with his followers by issuing thousands of letters.
He claimed there was a worldwide Jewish conspiracy and cited the discredited forgery ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ as proof.
He predicted the Second Coming of Jesus would happen in 1993.
He said one of his regrets was never having sex with his mother.
He encouraged sexual relationships between adults and minors in The Family International.
Two of his granddaughters publicly accused him of sexually abusing them.
His daughter Deborah claimed he attempted to have sex with her and said, ‘I had to quit looking at him as my father but as the leader of a worldwide movement that was destroying lives.’
Both his parents were evangelists and he spent ten years serving as his mother’s driver, song leader, and general assistant.
When his mother caught him masturbating, she made him repeat the act in front of his father.
He lived frugally and felt all Christians should do the same.
