    He unsuccessfully teamed with Shirley Goodman as Shirley and Al.
    He scraped the lower reaches of the R&B charts with a discofied cover of the Fleetwood’s ‘Come Softly To Me.’ (1977)
    He owns zoot suits in fourteen different colors.
    He received several awards for athletics as a member of the Compton High School track team.
    He co-wrote his two big hits.
    His songs were enduring favorites in the L.A. Latino lowrider community and in British northern soul circles.
