Why he might be annoying:

He is divorced.
He was prone to diseases such as glandular fever and Toxoplasmosis.
It was widely held that he broke the record 367 meters 43.6 seconds set by Lord Burghley.
However, he was 12 meters short of the finish line.
He was appointed Nike ambassador.
His successful bid for the 2012 London Olympics came one day before an attack on London's Transit System (July 7, 2005).
He touted that the logo for the 2012 Summer Olympics was perfect.
He failed to make it on the roster for the UK team for the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the only athlete to win the 1500 meter race twice (1980 and 1984).
In his two Olympic appearances he duplicated his titles.
His rivalries with Steve Ovett and Steve Cram were fun to watch.
He was knighted (2005).
